5th GRADE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission Cross Trainers Academy (CTA) is a K4-12th grade Christian Academy in the heart of Milwaukee, serving students and families who are searching for a strong academic learning experience in a gospel-centered environment.

Cross Trainers Academy is seeking a 5th Grade Elementary Teacher. A Cross Trainers Academy teacher is first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ and believes in every student’s potential to learn. This role is responsible for developing pathways of learning for all students through the use of differentiated materials, team collaboration and parent involvement, as well as teaching students to love learning and how to overcome the challenges and obstacles they face that keep them from reaching their goals.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday 7:00am-4:00pm, Tuesday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm

LOCATION: North Campus, 1530 W Center Street, Milwaukee, WI 53206

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Instruct 5th grade students in a variety of subjects
• Align curriculum with CTA identified academic and WI DPI learning standards
• Develop thorough, engaging lesson plans that meet grade level objectives and catch students’ attention
• Create a learning environment that is safe and nurturing
• Embody and demonstrate a Christ-like character, consistently enforcing school-wide core values
• Monitor student interactions and nurture cooperation and sharing
• Communicate and collaborate with parents and staff to ensure each scholar is making progress
• Meet deadlines for all tasks assigned including lesson plan submission and data reporting
• Attend and participate in scheduled meetings
• Maintain a neat, organized and engaging classroom environment
• Fill in for additional roles such as lunch, recess or dismissal monitors
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Teacher certification preferred, but not initially required
• A mature Christian with a servant’s heart
• Strong instructional and classroom management skills
• Proven skills in leadership and communication
• Patient, friendly, approachable, and inspiring
• Ability to work effectively with diverse students and families
• Competent in Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, PowerSchool
• A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian school environment
• Be in agreement with and subscribe to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission Statement of Faith
• Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test

PREFERRED:

• Experience in an urban teaching environment
• Track record of closing the achievement gap
