Position Overview:Akiba Yavneh Academy, a Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School, is seeking a passionate and experienced 5th and 6th Grade Humanities Teacher to join its faculty. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing an engaging, student-centered educational experience that fosters academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and a love of learning within a values-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver differentiated instruction in core subjects, including reading and social studies.
Foster a warm, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that reflects the school’s Jewish values and commitment to character development.
Implement research-based teaching strategies and utilize technology to enhance student learning.
Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback and individualized support.
Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and learning specialists to support student success and maintain a cohesive curriculum.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) and executive functioning skills into daily instruction.
Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school's educational community.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Teaching certification or equivalent experience in elementary education.
Prior experience teaching in lower school grades (K-6) preferred.
Knowledge of differentiated instruction and best practices in literacy, math, and inquiry-based learning.
Ability to create a nurturing and structured learning environment that supports diverse learning needs.
Commitment to fostering a love of learning and building positive relationships with students.
Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
Familiarity with Jewish values, traditions, and culture is a plus but not required.
