Job description

The 5th and 6th Grade Football Coach is responsible for overseeing the training, development, and management of young athletes participating in the football program. This role involves teaching the fundamentals of football, instilling teamwork, and ensuring the safety and well-being of players. The coach will also handle team logistics, practice schedules, game day operations, and foster a positive, inclusive environment for all players. Practices begin in late July with the season running August-September.

Responsibilities:

Team Coaching and Development

  • Plan and conduct regular practice sessions that focus on developing football skills (passing, blocking, tackling, etc.).
  • Teach fundamental football techniques and strategies to young players.
  • Encourage teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.

Behavioral and Mental Development

  • Promote good sportsmanship and respect for teammates, coaches, and opponents.
  • Encourage a positive, fun, and supportive environment that motivates young players to improve.
Skills & Characteristics:
  • Prior coaching experience or knowledge of football fundamentals required
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents, other coaches, and team members.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, love, inclusion and belonging principles both in teaching/coaching and in working with colleagues.
  • Prompt and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
