About the 5A Oncology Geriatric Nurse Residency Program LPN role at UPMC St. Margaret:
UPMC St. Margaret, a four-time ANCC Magnet Designated hospital in Aspinwall, PA, northeast of Pittsburgh, is a community hospital that values its exceptional team. The 5A Nursing Unit is a 34-bed unit that provides medical and surgical services to adult and geriatric patients age 18+ with a focus in oncology. Nurses on this unit are required to obtain the NIH Stroke Scale Certification and will have the opportunity to obtain the Gerontological Resource Nurse Certification through Nurses Improving Care for Health system Elders (NICHE). Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) provide direct patient care and in accordance with UPMC guidelines and state regulations, working in a team-based model with the direction of a Registered Nurse. LPNs operate at the top of their license within UPMC. Our nurses benefit from flexible scheduling, a supportive work culture, and comprehensive orientation.
