Job summary

HandsOn Suburban Chicago is seeking a 55 and Better Program Manager to lead the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program in a hybrid role based out of Arlington Heights, IL. You will report to the CEO, oversee grant implementation, ensure compliance, and supervise both paid staff and volunteers across a growing service area.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus at least five years in program management with three years in supervisory roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the field.
• Minimum of five years managing programs, including three years in a team management role.
• Experience with AmeriCorps or federal grants preferred.
• Strong project management, relationship building, and communication skills.
• Spanish competency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of accountability for the RSVP grant, keeping performance measures, outputs, and outcomes on track across the full grant cycle.
• Directly supervise the RSVP Programs paid and volunteer team members.
• Set the strategic direction for Volunteer recruitment, placement, retention, and recognition.
• Provide nonprofit partners the training, resources, and ongoing support needed to build strong, sustainable volunteer programs.
• Own the RSVP CRM system and oversee all RSVP communications and branding compliance.
• Support the CEO on Board of Directors and Community Impact Council engagement.

HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) is the volunteer center serving Cook, DuPage, and Lake Counties, bridging people who want to help with the nonprofits that depend on volunteers to meet critical community needs. We're hiring a 55 and better Program Manager to lead our AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program, connecting adults 55 and better to meaningful volunteer service while building the capacity of the nonprofit partners who receive them.

SUMMARY ABOUT THE ROLLE

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the 55 and Better Manager is responsible for the success of the federally funded AmeriCorps Seniors grant across an expanding 64-community service area. This role leads grant implementation and compliance, supervises program staff (paid and volunteer), and advances HOSC's broader mission to strengthen nonprofit capacity across the region.
