Job summary

NTT Global Data Centers is seeking a Security Officer Level 1 to join our on-site security team at a Mesa data center. Under the Security Supervisor, you will manage access control, monitor CCTV, respond to incidents, and produce accurate written reports to support safe, reliable operations.

This client-facing role requires clear communication, vigilance, and the ability to work a 7pm-7am shift from Sunday to Tuesday, with a 1pm-8pm Wednesday slot.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• One year of security experience is expected.
• Experience with access control, CCTV, and ID systems is preferred.
• Certification as CSG or CPO within six months is mandatory.
• Data Center environment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Verify identification for employees, clients, vendors and visitors.
• Patrol posts on foot to maintain visibility and deter threats.
• Ensure a safe and professional work environment for all on-site personnel.
• Monitor CCTV and access control systems for security events.
• Investigate and report security, maintenance and safety issues.
• Prepare concise daily administrative documentation (shift logs, incident reports).

Your role at a glance

Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer L1 is responsible for the administrative and operational duties associated with a site security team. This role works closely with the Data Center Operations Team (DCOPS) to ensure that security measures are in place and functioning properly.

The Security Officer Level 1 is an experienced client-facing security officer who utilizes clear and concise communication. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the protection of personnel and company property, managing access control, monitoring CCTV systems, responding to incidents, and completing written reports. Team members are expected to collaborate with other departments to assist with matters about the efficient operation of the data center, including Shipping & Receiving. The position enforces and adheres to security procedures based on policies determined by the Security Management team. Your vigilance and attention to detail will contribute to maintaining a secure environment for the NTT Data Center customer and the infrastructure.

The working schedule for this position is Sunday through Tuesday 7pm-7am, Wednesday 1pm-8pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures that all employees, clients, vendors, and visitors on company property have proper company-issued identification.

• Patrols assigned post on foot to maintain visibility and observes possible unusual activity.

• Ensures that the client, its associates, and NTT Data Center personnel are provided with a safe and professional work environment.

• Monitor and maintain security technologies, including CCTV systems, and access control systems.

• Investigates, addresses, and reports security, maintenance, and safety conditions.

• Ensures daily administrative documentation is always concise and complete. This includes but not limited to, Shift Activity Reports, Incident Reports, Shift Pass-down Logs, and other related written documentation.

• Adherence to NTT Data policy and security procedure manuals, in addition to Company policies.

• Assist personnel with security related requests.

• Completes assignments, related to access control audits, combustible audits, badge discrepancy audits, as directed by supervisory/management staff.

• Assists with Shipping and Receiving tasks as necessary. This includes accepting, logging, and tracking shipments during times when the primary S&R Officer is not on-site or otherwise unavailable.

• Responds to all site emergencies and coordinates with local emergency services.

• Investigates and reports fires, evacuations, hazardous situations/other facility-related events.

• Maintains familiarity with Security procedures and policies in addition to Company policies.

• Thoroughly investigates all security-related accidents/incidents, interviews witnesses, complaints, and victims.

• Guide personnel on security processes and protocols to ensure compliance.

• Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED required.

• Additional education or training in security-related fields is a plus.

• At least (1) year in a security role, or equivalent combination of education and professional background.

• Prior experience in a Data Center or similar environment is a plus.

• Prior experience in the administration and operation of access control systems, CCTV systems with digital recording, and photo ID systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

• Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and reliability in fulfilling security responsibilities.

• As a condition of employment, you are required to possess active certifications such as Certified Security Guard (CSG) or Certified Protection Officer (CPO) as mandated by state regulations, to be obtained within six months of commencing employment and maintained throughout your tenure as a mandatory requirement.

Physical Requirements

Work Conditions and Other Requirements

• Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, highly confidential, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

• Must be able to respond to emergencies at the Data Center.

• Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, and holidays, and be part of on-call protocol.

• Must participate in some capacity in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program—use smart mobile device with cellular connectivity capable of downloading active applications.

• A valid driver’s license is required as employees will need to support tasks in nearby buildings and utilize company vehicles to complete assignments.

• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

• CPR/First Aid Certification preferred or can be obtained working for NTT.

• Must possess or become forklift certified. NTT will provide initial and ongoing certification training.

Compensation Pay Range

For roles residing in the US, we share pay and benefit levels to support pay transparency requirements. For other countries, we are more than happy to share our competitive pay and benefit levels during the interview process.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is:

$20.19 to $28.85

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
