Job description

TACGis seeking aSection 508 Tester to join our team supporting the United States Coast Guard (USCG) in designing, deploying, and maintaining the Vessel Incidental Discharge Act (VIDA) Data Management system (DMS) to implement, monitor, and enforce regulations for vessel incidental discharges. This will be a cloud-based, Low-Code Application Platform (LCAP) solution using Appian.

TheSection 508 Testershall possess the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to address the accessibility requirements; advocate for accessibility, and act as a resource for colleagues developing accessible products and applications in the Government space; and ensure comprehensive validation of system compliance.

Work Location:

There will be occasional USCG meetings in the DC Metro Area or West Virginia. The Section 508 Testermay work remotely, but if there is interest in attending USCG meetings, then the Section 508 Testershould reside within one hour travel time from the DC Metro Area.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Apply applicable Section 508 standards (including WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA Success Criteria) by conducting testing using the DHS Trusted Tester for Web Methodology Version 5.0 or successor versions;
  • Develop and maintain a Section 508 Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) Accessibility Plan that includes both functional and technical requirements, design, and integration; and
  • Provide written Accessibility Conformance Reports, based on the product’s Voluntary Product Accessibility Template; and participate in working groups and/or meetings with USCG stakeholders to discuss requirements and/or present 508 strategies and solutions.
  • Develop and Maintain Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs), Test Case Specifications, System Acceptance Test Procedures, and associated reports

Requirements (include, but are not limited to):

  • Clearance:
  • Must have or be eligible for a Tier 1 background investigation
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science or an IT related field
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Section 508 Tester
  • Experience specializing in accessibility and conducting Section 508 compliance audits
  • Experience with USCG is a plus
  • Experience with VIDA DMS is a definite plus
  • Experience with Appian or other LCAP solutions is a plus
  • Experience with cloud implementations is a plus
  • Development of automated testing solutions is a plus
