Job description

Savan is seeking 508 E-Learning Specialist (1099 or part-time) to join our consulting team. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring digital accessibility compliance across program documentation and e-learning materials. The ideal candidate will develop, assess, and remediate documents and templates for Section 508 compliance, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure accessible content delivery. The role requires experience with accessibility testing tools and remediation methods, particularly in support of WCAG 2.1, Section 508, and ARIA standards. The idea candidate will have expertise in Articulate Storyline, with the ability to identify accessibility barriers and provide clear, actionable remediation guidance within the platform.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and test digital content to ensure compliance with Section 508 requirements.
  • Review and correct program documents, PDFs, and e-learning materials to meet accessibility standards.
  • Use assistive technology tools (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, ANDI) to assess content structure, reading order, alt text, tables, and hyperlinks.
  • Test and remediate e-learning modules developed in Articulate Storyline to ensure full compliance with WCAG and Section 508 standards.
  • Provide expert guidance to content developers on incorporating accessibility best practices in Storyline projects.
  • Develop and maintain 508-compliant templates for reuse across the organization.
  • Stay current with accessibility regulations and federal agency compliance checklists.
  • Collaborate with document owners and stakeholders to address compliance gaps and recommend fixes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience creating and testing documents and e-learning modules for Section 508 compliance
  • Strong proficiency in Articulate Storyline, including accessibility features, testing, and remediation
  • Certified DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester
  • Experience editing, proofing, or copyediting technical documentation
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1, Section 508, and ARIA standards
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with consulting document owners on fixing 508 compliance issues.
  • Experience guiding content creators through accessibility fixes in Articulate Storyline
  • Familiarity with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Confidential Business Information (CBI) or privacy/security programs
  • Public Trust Clearance or higher
Work Location and Schedule:
Remote or Hybrid
1099 or part-time (2-4 hrs. per week)
