Job Responsibilities

Work requires general knowledge of anesthesia practices and aseptic technique needed to organize, stock, set-up, and clean anesthesia equipment, work areas, and inventory locations. Follows Perioperative Services and Anesthesia's departmental/regulatory standards in the completion of assigned tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

EXPERIENCE:

• One (1) year of nursing assistant and/or patient care experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• Graduate of an approved school of Anesthesia Technology, Surgical Technology, or Respiratory Therapy.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These are general duties and may include other responsibilities as assigned:

• Follow aseptic techniques; ensure proper disposal of items; set up disposable supplies for sterile anesthesia field.
• Monitor inventory; ensure anesthesia carts are stocked and areas are clean.
• Check expiration dates; rotate stock accordingly.
• Perform anesthesia post case cleaning and terminal cleaning of equipment.
• Assist with equipment setup and supply acquisition for anesthesia providers.
• Handle spills and incident documentation.
• Transport anesthesia carts and assist with patient transport as needed.
• Set up and maintain anesthesia equipment, including emergency devices.
• Manage hoses, soda sorb, and equipment repairs.
• Stock supplies and respond to anesthesia pages.
• Prepare equipment and scopes per manufacturer instructions.
• Transport lab specimens and blood.
• Assist with medication transport within scope of practice.
• Partner with new hires for training and orientation.
• Perform patient glucose and hemoglobin testing.

Additional Requirements

Completion of annual education for specialty accreditation if applicable. Physical and environmental requirements are standard for this role.
