Protingent Staffing has an exciting Contract opportunity in Los Angeles, CA.
Program and optimize 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machines using HyperMill to manufacture precision satellite components from high-performance materials (e.g., aluminum alloys, titanium, Inconel). Develop efficient, collision-free toolpaths that meet aerospace-level tolerances and surface finish requirements.
Interpret complex 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T to create accurate machining strategies.
Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters for lightweight and thin-walled aerospace structures. Simulate and verify programs within CAM software for accuracy, tool clearance, and machine safety.
Support machine setup and prove-outs, working closely with machinists to achieve first‑pass yield and dimensional compliance. Maintain and document CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling data, and process notes for repeat production and configuration control.
Collaborate with design and process engineers to improve manufacturability and cycle times without compromising quality. Ensure compliance with AS9100 quality standards and internal manufacturing protocols.
5+ years of experience in multi-axis CNC programming, preferably in aerospace or satellite hardware manufacturing. Advanced proficiency in HyperMill (required); experience with other CAM tools (Mastercam, NX, or PowerMill) is a plus.
Strong understanding of aerospace machining principles, including thin‑wall, complex contour, and tight‑tolerance geometries. Expertise in toolpath optimization, feeds/speeds, and cutting strategies for aluminum, titanium, and superalloys.
Ability to interpret ASME Y14.5 GD&T and complex engineering drawings. Experience with machine setup, first article inspection (FAI), and production support.
Familiarity with aerospace material certifications, traceability, and documentation requirements.
