Job summary

Bend-La Pine Schools in Bend, Oregon, seeks an Educational Assistant – Student Instruction for Elk Meadow Elementary School. Under indirect supervision, the employee aids with instructional activities, class supervision, and materials handling during school hours.

The position is temporary with a base pay range of $20.69 to $22.92 per hour. Applicants may have two years of related college education or an AA degree, or pass the Professional Assessment Exam with a score of 455 or higher.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of instructional materials and AV equipment.

  • Maintain classroom discipline and assist with clerical tasks as needed.

ESSENT I A L J O B FUN C T I O NS:
  • Assists with the preparation of instructional materials by using duplicating or AV equipment, and resource materials.
  • Assists students in their understanding of instructional concepts by reemphasizing the basic elements of teacher- directed activities with those students needing additional and repetitive assistance.
  • Assists teachers for the purpose of implementing lesson plans.
  • Assists with the correction of student work.
  • Keeps records and charts of student progress.
  • Assists with the general supervision of students both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Contributes to student effectiveness by maintaining classroom discipline.
  • Collects and accounts for monies received.
  • Supervises students during recess, lunch periods, and before/after school by keeping a calm and disciplined atmosphere on the playground, in the cafeteria, library, hallways, and bus lines.
  • Assists others in matters of filing, sorting, data collecting and organizing materials.
  • Assists in classroom areas in matters of routine clerical work.
  • Participates in various meetings for the purpose of sharing information and / or improving the individual’s skills and knowledge.
  • Fulfills other related duties as assigned.
  • Fulfills performance standards identified in the evaluation process as required by the position.
  • Fulfills working conditions and physical effort listed below.
WO RK I N G C O ND I T I O NS :

Work is performed primarily indoors in classrooms or other school facilities, with periodic outdoor supervision during recess or school events. The position requires standing or walking for extended periods, assisting with instructional activities, and lifting or moving materials consistent with assigned duties.

The employee may be exposed to typical classroom noise levels and a range of student behaviors. Work follows the assigned school schedule and may include participation in school activities or meetings as required.

The role requires focus, flexibility, collaboration with teachers and students, and the ability to support instruction in a dynamic learning environment. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
