Position Overview

The Richmond Middle High School is seeking a dedicated Band/Music teacher to lead our 5th-12th grade instrumental music program. The position involves teaching band students at Marcia Buker Elementary School (5th grade) and general music/band students at Richmond Middle High School (6th-12th grade). We are looking for an educator passionate about fostering musical growth through engaging instrumental experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in middle and high school band and general music.
  • Design engaging lesson plans aligned with district curriculum.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with students and families.
  • Plan and lead rehearsals, performances, and musical events that showcase student growth and talent.
  • Collaborate with other district music educators and co-plan events.
  • Integrate music into interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Support students' growth in vocal and instrumental performance.
  • Coordinate school-wide musical events such as concerts and recitals.
  • Cultivate a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative classroom and school environment.
Qualifications and Attributes
  • Valid Maine DOE Certification 614 (K–12 Music) or eligibility to obtain.
  • CHRC approval.
  • Strong passion for music and education.

  • Effective collaboration skills with colleagues and administrators.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to teach various music courses, including electives.
  • Experience working with diverse learners.
