Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an Audiology extern to join the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center team. This fourth-year audiology student externship offers hands-on diagnostic and rehabilitative care to adults, working alongside CCC-A audiologists.

The extern will perform evaluations, determine hearing aid candidacy, program devices, and participate in implantable hearing technologies while documenting in the chart and collaborating across sites including Burlington, Peabody and Lexington.

Qualifications

• Education: 4th year Audiology Graduate Student.
• Excellent verbal and patient-centric skills required.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Reviews results and recommendations to patient regarding diagnostic tests and rehabilitative options.
• Determines if the patient is a hearing aid candidate or would benefit from assistive listening devices.
• Performs diagnostic assessment of hearing loss and rehabilitation options.
• Greets patients and explains testing procedures.
• Selects appropriate hearing aid device based on test results.
• Provides programming of amplification devices and care for implantable hearing technologies.
• Performs electrophysiologic assessments (e.g., VEMP, EcochG, ABR).
• Coordinates with Otolaryngology staff to ensure excellent patient care.
