North Hill Elementary in Rochester Hills, MI, is seeking a 4th Grade Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This full-time position reports to the Building Principal and requires a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and a Bachelor's degree.

The teacher will deliver core subjects, create engaging lessons, and communicate with families to support student growth. The role follows the Rochester Education Association Master Agreement and starts immediately.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluates students’ academic and social growth and prepares progress reports.
  • Communicates with parents through conferences and other meetings to discuss student progress.
  • Identifies student needs and collaborates with staff to support pupil health and learning.
  • Creates a functional learning environment with displays and centers.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service activities.
  • Supervises students in assigned activities and follows district testing programs.
  • Participates in curriculum development and school committees.

JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: To create a flexible elementary grade program and class environment to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary education.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, and health to students in a classroom, utilizing courseof study adopted by the Board of Education.

  • Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matterspecified in state law and administrative regulations andprocedures of the School District.

  • Develops lessons plans and instructional materials and providesindividualizes and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the school District.

  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to bestutilize a functional time for instruction.

  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed toachieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

  • Evaluates students academic and social growth, keeps appropriateRecords, and prepares progress reports.

  • Communicates with parents through conferences, Meet the Teacher Night and other means to discuss student progress and interpret in schoolprogram.

  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude,and learning problems.

  • Creates a functional learning environment through attractivedisplays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.

  • Maintains professional competence though in-service educationactivities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

  • Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintainsrequired inventory records.

  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during theassigned work day.

  • Administers group standardizes tests in accordance with Districttesting program.

  • Participates in Faculty committees and the sponsorship of studentactivities.

  • Participates in Curriculum development programs as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
