Job summary

Escuela Avancemos! Academy in Detroit's Southwest area is seeking a passionate 4th-grade teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to serve a diverse ESL learner population with rigorous instruction and restorative practices.

You will design standards-aligned lessons, differentiate for language proficiency, collaborate with ESL staff and families, and maintain accurate records while upholding an inclusive, language-forward classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Valid Michigan teaching certification for the appropriate grade level.
• ESL/ELL Endorsement, preferred.
• Commitment to culturally responsive and student-centered instruction.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction for 4th graders.
• Differentiate instruction to meet varying language proficiency.
• Implement ESL/ELL strategies to support language development.
• Analyze student performance data to drive interventions.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, restorative classroom environment.
• Collaborate with ESL staff, colleagues, and support teams.
• Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
