Job summary

Lexington County School District One is seeking an Instructional Assistant for 4K/5K Kindergarten at New Providence Elementary School. The role supports the certified teacher, assists with classroom activities, and helps with assessments and interventions to meet diverse student needs.

The position requires 60 college credit hours, or an associate degree or higher, and a ParaPro/ParaPathways score. Completion of required district policies and appropriate certifications is expected.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or
• An associate's degree (or higher); or
• A passing score on the ParaPro or ParaPathways Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in academic and social skills under the supervision of a certified teacher.
• Assist teacher with all classroom activities and lunch/safety drills.
• Work one-on-one and in small groups with students as instructed by the teacher.
• Assist with benchmark assessments and intervention groups in the kindergarten setting.
• Provide for basic first aid and toileting assistance for students.
• Perform clerical duties such as recording attendance, collecting fees, and organizing materials.
