The MED/SURG RN at BMC South works a 36-hour schedule, 7a-7p, with every other weekend rotation. This role emphasizes clinical excellence, teamwork, and ongoing professional growth within a Magnet-recognized system.

Qualifications

• Nursing diploma or degree required with MA RN licensure.
• BLS required; BSN preferred with timeline to obtain.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Med/Surg Department, including assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and education of patients.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
• Assist the leadership team in quality improvement projects.

ABOUT THE MEDSURG UNITS AT BMC SOUTH:

The Medical-Surgical Units at Boston Medical Center – South play a vital role in delivering comprehensive inpatient care to a diverse patient population. These units, including Post-Surgery, Orthopedics, Orthospine, Bariatrics and Hospice beds, serve as the backbone of the hospital’s acute care services, managing patients with a wide range of medical and post-surgical needs. Across all med-surg units, nurses and interdisciplinary teams provide evidence-based, patient-centered care, focusing on recovery, stabilization, and discharge planning. As a central component of the hospital’s continuum of care, these units are instrumental in supporting patients through various stages of illness and recovery, ensuring safe transitions whether patients are moving to higher levels of care, rehabilitation, or returning home.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Nursing Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years required.
• License/Certifications: Current RN MA license, BLS required
• Experience: Prior acute Med/Surg experience strongly preferred in hospital setting

Compensation Range:

$38.86- $80.77

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
