Job Description

Job Summary: Nantucket High School has an anticipated opening for a Biology and Anatomy/Physiology Science teacher to join our caring and innovative community for the 2026-2027 school year. Our ideal candidate is committed to differentiating instruction, keeping student voice at the center of instruction, and developing a classroom learning environment centered on inquiry. You will be an integral part of our departmental team as we create challenging and inspiring teaching and learning experiences for all students.

Minimum Requirements

• Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks (Science and Technology /Engineering)
• Bachelor’s Degree
• DESE MA certification or the ability to be certified in Biology (8-12)

Ideal Candidate

• Experience in high school biology and/or anatomy/physiology science teaching
• Passion for teaching biology and anatomy/physiology science
• Strong biological science content knowledge
• Strong knowledge of the science and engineering practices
• Knowledge about high school pedagogy and the developmental needs of students
• Ability to assess learning using a variety of methods
• Strong foundation in student-centered and culturally responsive pedagogy
