Job summary

North Carolina State University is seeking a 4-H Agent within the Cooperative Extension to lead youth development initiatives for ages 5–19 across Cumberland County. You will plan, implement, and evaluate programs such as clubs, school enrichment, and camps, while coordinating adult volunteers and sustaining grants and partnerships.

You will supervise program staff, deliver STEM‑driven education, and report outcomes to strengthen community youth services and family engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with GPA 2.5 overall or 3.0 in child or youth development or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree and completion of at least half of coursework in a master’s degree curriculum with a GPA of 3.0+ in related field.
• Master’s degree with at least one degree in child or youth development or related field.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow the 4-H Youth Development program through clubs, after‑school programs, school enrichment programs, summer fun day camps and traditional 4‑H camps.
• Assist the Livestock Agent with the annual Cumberland County Livestock show.
• Seek out sponsorships, grants, and other funding sources to support activities and programs.
• Ensure the 4‑H program is accessible to youth across the county.
• Develop and maintain 4‑H clubs, special interest youth programs, and school enrichment programs.
• Recruit and manage volunteers as well as evaluate and report the impacts of program efforts.
• Apply digital skills and STEM knowledge to develop these skills in county youth.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, grantsmanship, public relations, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills.
