Job summary

Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) in Fort Wayne, IN, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant for 3rd shift on a fast-paced ER team. You will assist with emergency exams, restrain patients, prepare treatment areas, collect samples, and support high-quality patient care alongside board-certified specialists.

Qualifications

• Veterinary experience required, ER experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians and veterinarians with emergency exams and treatments.
• Safely restrain patients and support procedures.
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies.
• Support patient care, including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring.
• Collect samples and assist with basic lab tasks.
• Maintain accurate records and support team communication.
• Help maintain a clean, organized ER environment.

NIVES is hiring an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team on 3rd shift. If you are calm under pressure, thrive in fast-paced environments, and want to be part of a highly skilled emergency team, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in patient care.

Compensation & Schedule

• Competitive pay based on experience
• Shift and weekend differentials available
• 3rd shift with alternating weekends off
• Set schedule with 10-12 hour shifts
