Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure all employees understand and abide by all company safety rules, regulations, and policies. Maintain safe and sanitary working conditions in accordance with company standards, as well as state and federal laws. Conduct safety training and schedule attendance for safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions. Investigate accidents and near misses, complete reports, and take corrective actions.
  2. Supervise hourly personnel assigned to the area and oversee operational aspects during the shift. Ensure continuity between shifts and set practices and goals for continuous improvement.
  3. Coordinate resources to address problems or weaknesses to maximize efficiency. Facilitate improvement projects and control processes and methods.
  4. Coordinate training for both hourly and salaried personnel. Approve staffing changes such as vacations, PTO, and shift modifications.
  5. Ensure the area is cleaned and maintained properly, with 5-S paperwork completed and posted. Manage equipment and personnel to produce quality products safely and efficiently.
  6. Assign and instruct workers to maintain high-quality production following process procedures. Enforce priorities and procedures set by the Plant Manager.
  7. Monitor operations continuously to ensure equipment functionality, procedure adherence, and safety. Ensure all safety regulations and policies are followed, including accident investigation and reporting.
  8. Complete daily production, downtime, attendance, and absentee reports. Distribute overtime equitably and enforce collective bargaining procedures.
  9. Address process deviations and communicate with employees and other supervisors. Document problems for service departments and participate in quality improvement initiatives and employee training meetings.
Qualifications (education, experience, skills, personal attributes):
  1. High School diploma required; college preferred.
  2. At least five years of experience in foundry operations.
  3. Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or other shifts as needed.
  4. Maintain a professional appearance and good performance and attendance records.
  5. Physically and mentally capable of handling exertion and stress. Able to conduct and participate in meetings.
