Essential Functions And Role

The Department manager will have full responsibility for all production activities and personnel in the assigned department. Working independent of immediate supervision, the Department Manager will also work collaboratively and effectively with all support departments as well as outside agencies such as USDA. The Department Manager will demonstrate a dedicated and committed responsibility to meeting the job functions as described below. This is “hands on” Operations Manager role, meeting USDA, HACCP, GMP, and Company standards, and under the supervision the Assistant Plant Manager, the functions of this role are to:

  • Manage production, safety, quality, yields, efficiencies, attendance, payroll, hiring, discipline, work rules, USDA procedures, training, paperwork, communication, and product safety.
  • Ensures that all associates understand and follow company policy.
  • Provide proper training to new associates.
  • Follow up on a daily basis the accuracy of equipment and employee performance.
  • Maintain efficiencies at or above standards.
  • Maintain Records of all activities.
  • Manages operation procedures.
  • Ensures Quality of product NTIS/HACCP procedures.
  • Monitor and direct the line activities through the supervisor and lead staff.
  • Responsible for the development of associates to include establishment of goals and accountability to same.
  • Conducts Weekly Meetings.
  • Require USDA and QA Procedure Safety.
  • Operating under the OSHA & MIOSHA safety standards and rules.
  • Regularly participates in personal development training opportunities and keeps up to date on industry trends.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field of study and/or extended level of industry experience to the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the assigned area of responsibility and /or have a history of being able to quickly learn and adapt to a new area of responsibility
  • Must demonstrate the potential to manage, lead and supervise the staffing associated with multiple lines of production
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to achieve practical solutions to problems encountered is essential
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively is a must
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with the company is preferred
  • An advanced level of analytical and mathematical skill is required
  • An intermediate level of computer literacy is required including working with Microsoft Excel
  • Must be able and follow all the rules and procedures established by the HACCP program.
  • Must be able to understand the English language.
  • Must be able to work safely.
  • Must be able to perform other tasks assigned.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, working collaboratively with hourly workers, USDA, and Management members.
