Job summary

Whirlpool Corporation in Racine, Wisconsin seeks a 3rd shift Metrology Technician to develop and maintain precision calibration systems, define standards for length, mass, and temperature, and ensure instruments meet tight accuracy requirements.

The role requires hands-on experience with GD&T, CMM programming (PC-DMIS), and instruments such as height gauges and optical comparators, plus ability to perform MSAs and root-cause analysis in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; an Associate Degree in a technical or engineering discipline preferred.
Minimum 5 years in Metrology, CMM programming, or industrial maintenance in manufacturing.
Strong ability to read GD&T and complex blueprints; proficient with PC-DMIS.
Experience with PLCs, VFDs, CNC systems and 480V electrical systems.
Ability to apply statistical analysis and perform MSE and Gage R&R studies.

Responsibilities

Develop, evaluate, and maintain calibration systems; define base/derived unit standards.
Program, set up, and operate CMMs; use height gauges and optical comparators.
Identify sources of error and perform root-cause analysis to improve processes.
Conduct analytical testing on materials; support customer claim substantiation.
Lead engineering, quality, and lab teams in measurement standard selection and compliance.
