Job summary

Opus Packaging – Jackson, MI is seeking a Material Handler for the 3rd shift to support our packaging operations. You will operate a powered industrial truck, move materials, and help ensure accurate loading and inventory flow on the production floor.

Requirements include forklift experience, high school diploma, ability to read safety documents, and willingness to pass pre-employment checks. This role offers a 4-day work week and a $2 shift premium.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents.
• Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Previous experience in warehouse or packaging environment.
• Previous Forklift or Powered Industrial Truck Experience
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to properly use and understand the required measurement equipment including tape measures, micrometers, and other tools as required for specific jobs.

Responsibilities

• Operate Powered Industrial Truck equipped with lifting devices to lift, tier and load product into trailers or bins.
• Ensure the smooth flow of materials to various departments on the production floor.
• Operate a Powered Industrial Truck in a safe manner, following all rules and regulations that are set forth.
• Ensure loads are stacked properly for safe transportation.
• Be accountable for accuracy of shipping documents and verify that trailers are properly loaded while communicating with a supervisor about any discrepancies relating to orders.
