Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Griffin, GA is seeking a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician responsible for troubleshooting and performing preventative/predictive maintenance on material handling equipment at a fixed site.

The role requires electrical troubleshooting experience, mechanical gear and bearing knowledge, plus PLC/DC power familiarity and root cause analysis capabilities. Relocation is not offered; comprehensive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Electrical troubleshooting across wiring, AC power, motors, schematics, and control panels.
• Mechanical experience with gears, sprockets, chains, bearings and rollers.
• Experience with PLCs, PC controllers, and DC power supplies; knowledge of conveyor systems.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain MHE including belt tracking and lubrication.
• Complete preventative maintenance routines and document procedures.
• Use electrical test equipment to troubleshoot circuitry.
• Create and close work orders with labor hours, equipment maintenance, and parts used.
• Troubleshoot problems and determine resources needed to resolve them.
• Locate and track spare parts from inventory.
• Perform routine maintenance and equipment testing to meet specifications.
• Respond to service calls and correct equipment faults.
• Identify problems as they occur and take corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships across the organization.

3rd Shift Maintenance Technician

Role Definition

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day troubleshooting and preventative/predictive maintenance. Acts as a material handling technician on all equipment that is installed at a specific site location.

What You Will Do (including But Not Limited To)

• Repair and maintenance of MHE including belt tracking, component adjustment/replacement, component lubrication, etc.
• Complete preventative maintenance routines, documentation, and procedures.
• Use electrical test equipment to troubleshoot electrical circuitry.
• Create and close work orders into asset management system with appropriate data to include labor hours, equipment maintenance, and parts used.
• Troubleshoot semi-complex problems and understand resources needed to resolve them.
• Locate and track spare parts from inventory.
• Perform routine maintenance and equipment testing to ensure they meet specifications.
• Respond to service calls and correct equipment failures and faults.
• Identify problems as they occur and take appropriate steps to solve them.
• Develop and maintenance positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Basic Qualifications

• At least 1 year of electrical troubleshooting experience to include wiring, ac power, ac motors, electrical drawings/schematics, and control panels.
• Mechanical experience with gearboxes, sprockets, chains, bearings, guide rollers, etc.
• Experience with PLC, PC controllers, and DC power supplies.
• Knowledge of conveyor equipment/systems.
• Must be able to evaluate, analyze, and troubleshoot equipment failures and perform root cause corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.

Top Candidates Will Have

• Knowledge of MS Office applications.

Additional Information

• 3rd shift: Monday - Friday 7:30pm - 6:00am.
• This role regularly requires working at elevated heights.
• Relocation is not offered for this position.

Summary Pay Range

$27.19 - $36.26
