Job summary

Michigan Turkey Producers Co-op is seeking a 3rd Shift Machine Maintenance Tech 4 in Grand Rapids, MI. This hands-on, non-production role focuses on maintaining plant equipment to meet USDA and HACCP standards under the Maintenance Manager and Controls Engineer.

You will design and supervise electrical control systems, troubleshoot PLC and HMI programming, and support cost-saving projects. The position requires collaboration with plant engineers and maintenance staff and involves HAZMAT duties

Qualifications

• PLC and HMI programming experience.
• Electrical troubleshooting with PLC and VFD experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong communication skills.
• Licensing in electrician field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, rebuilds and projects on plant equipment.
• Design, develop, implement, and supervise electrical control systems for machinery and equipment.
• Plan with Plant Engineer and Maintenance Managers to achieve goals.
• Assist Project Coordinator in developing cost savings solutions.
• Provide electrical and programming troubleshooting for all plant equipment.
• Assist PLC programming and maintaining files.
• Design and develop HMI system.
• Manage SOP documentation on various plant equipment and processes.
• Assist with wiring equipment panels and project management from start to finish.
• Participate in HAZMAT responsibilities.

Essential Functions of Role:

This is “hands on” non production operation role.

• Meeting USDA, HACCP, GMFP, and Company standards, and under the supervision of a Maintenance Manager and Controls Engineer, the functions of this role are to be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, rebuilds and projects on all plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supervising electrical control systems for machinery and equipment.
• Working closely with Plant Engineer and Maintenance Managers to plan and accomplish goals.
• Assist Project Coordinator in developing and implementing Cost Savings Solutions.
• Provide electrical and programming troubleshooting support for all plant equipment and processes.
• ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
  • Assist all personnel with electrical and equipment troubleshooting as needed.
  • Perform and assist in PLC programming and maintaining files.
  • Design and develop HMI system.
  • Manage and assist with all controls documentation.
  • Help build and wire equipment panels, as necessary.
  • Manage assigned projects from start to finish.
  • Manage and assist with SOP documentation on various plant equipment and processes.
  • Assist Refrigeration Specialists as required.
  • Participation in HAZMAT.

Qualifications:

• PLC and HMI programming experience. ( RSlogix 500, RSlogix 5000, FactoryTalk View ME & SE, PanelView & PanelView +)
• Electrical troubleshooting with PLC and VFD experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to solve computer system problems in a server environment.
• Licensed Electrician or in the process of acquiring license, a plus
• TIG welds stainless steel to “food grade” standards, a plus.
