Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is hiring a Laboratory Technician to support dairy testing and quality assurance in our lab. The role requires obtaining NY State licenses for DMC, drug residue, milkfat testing, and phosphatase, along with clear communication to production and management.

A strong customer service attitude and teamwork are essential for success. The position emphasizes accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure product safety and quality

Qualifications

• Math: add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages.
• Reading & interpreting safety rules, procedures, and memos.
• Ability to communicate lab information across shifts and with production/management.
• Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Obtain NY State licenses for DMC, drug residue, milkfat testing and phosphatase as required.
• Accurately perform lab tests and report results to production teams.
• Maintain high attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and compliance.

Role overview: The laboratory technician will have or be able to obtain NY State licenses for DMC, drug residue testing, milkfat testing and phosphatase. Along with necessary technical skills, technicians must have a positive customer service attitude, display team orientation to their work and have the ability to clearly communicate lab information to production and management. The quality and safety of our products depend upon the lab technician’s ability to perform their responsibilities in a proper way. A high level of attention to detail that will yield accurate work is required.

Required character strengths include honesty and integrity, a high level of self-motivation, good communication skills and team-oriented work approach.

Required Skills

• Mathematical Skills: The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentage.
• Language Skills: The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to communicate across shifts and with others. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings such as training or assisting co-workers. Follow detailed instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Language Skills Reasoning Ability: The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. The ability to troubleshoot, apply judgment and implement solutions to problems.
• Must possess a strong work character and have the ability to work in a team environment.
• Must possess a strong work ethic and passion for the job. Ability to multi-task and follow instructions. Must be self-motivated and self-directed to support complex operation. Critical thinking and ability to analyze data and situations is a must. This involves being detail oriented with strong emphasis on accuracy and organization.
