Description

Position Summary:
Hanover Foods Corporation seeks a hardworking Heavy Laborer to join our Production Department on Third Shift. This role involves performing general labor duties throughout the plant, supporting various operations, and ensuring safety and quality standards compliance.

Shift Schedule:

  • Third Shift: Hours vary based on production needs.
  • Must be available for overtime as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general, non-mechanical labor duties throughout the plant.
  • Sight inspect and remove defects or extraneous materials from products.
  • Prepare raw materials for production.
  • Deposit fatback into cans by hand or meat depositor.
  • Lift and transport materials weighing up to 100 pounds as required.
  • Conduct container inspections, including seam inspections, lid placement, and fill levels.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area, including sweeping, dumping, and proper disposal of materials.
  • Understand the operation of specific equipment and be able to stop it if an automatic function fails.
  • Report any mechanical and/or safety issues to the Supervisor or Leadperson immediately.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines, including wearing required protective clothing and equipment.
  • Follow food safety, legality, and quality policies, including GMPs, HACCP, product quality, and plant security procedures.
  • Assist in loading and unloading kettles in the retorts.
  • Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, bobcats, and hoists as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Leadperson.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to record data accurately onto spreadsheets.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills with management and co-workers.
  • Must maintain a good attendance record and demonstrate safe work habits.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a food processing facility is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and handle materials for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 100 pounds.
  • Work in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.
