Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese in Wisconsin is seeking a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician to support the overall Food Safety Plan through monitoring, record reviews and inspections.

You will perform verifications, monitor temperatures, conduct environmental swabs, review production records, and help ensure products meet specifications and our SQF program requirements. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced production environment at Great Lakes Cheese.

Qualifications

• High School degree required.
• Ability to complete tasks based on standard procedures.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work cross-functionally.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Verify post-sanitation and pre-operation cleans.
• Perform pre-operational and environmental monitoring swabs.
• Plate environmental monitoring swabs.
• Monitor room, cooler and incubator temperatures.
• Test and monitor product and packaging attributes per specs.
• Review labels daily and retain product.
• Conduct real-time review of production records.
• Perform daily line inspections.
• Data entry and filing of paperwork daily.
• Follow safety policies and procedures.
• Adhere to GMPs and SFQ programs to exceed quality expectations.
• Handle other FSQA tasks as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality of company information.

Job Overview

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician supports the overall Food Safety Plan through monitoring, record/product review and inspections.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct verification inspections for post sanitation and pre-operation cleans.
• Conduct pre-operational and environmental monitoring swabs
• Conduct plating of environmental monitoring swabs
• Monitor room, cooler and incubator temperatures.
• Conduct routine testing and monitoring of product and packaging attributes to established specifications
• Conduct daily review of labels and retain product
• Conduct real time review of production records
• Conduct daily line inspections.
• Conduct routine data entry and filing of paper work
• All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures
• All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by plant FSQA leadership.

Required Education And Experience

Preferred Education And Experience

• Associate’s degree in Food Science or related field
• SAP experience.
• HACCP Certification.

Working Conditions

• Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
• Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
• Work is performed in a lab setting.
• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
• Work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 60-80 degrees F.
