3rdShift Custodian position availablebeginningJuly 1, 2025 atSouderton Area High School.

Approx. 11:00pm - 7:00am

8 hours per day - 12-month position

POSITION TITLE : CLEANING CUSTODIAN (3rdSHIFT)

REPORTS TO : BUILDING FACILITIES MANAGER

WORK YEAR : 12 Month (July 1 through June 30)

JOB SUMMARY/ACCOUNTABILITY : To maintain all classrooms, offices, bathrooms and public areas within the building in a clean and safe manner. To assist the Building Facilities Manager in providing optimal custodial services.

QUALIFICATIONS : High school diploma or GED; previous school or public building cleaning desirable; must be able to provide needed services with a positive, customer oriented attitude; possess physical stamina to perform adequately the duties assigned for an eight (8) hour custodial shift.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Observe safe working conditions at all times.
  • Dry mop and/or vacuum floors of wood, vinyl tile and carpet, move desks, chairs, etc.
  • Wet mop quarry tile and ceramic tile floors, wipe down lavatories, water fountains/bottle filling stations, dispensers (soap and towel), mirrors and restroom partitions.
  • Sweep/mop as required stairways and landings.
  • Fill dispensers (towel and soap).
  • Empty waste cans and pencil sharpeners.
  • Disinfect & wipe table tops, doorjambs, door hardware and electric drinking fountains.
  • Dust windowsills, teaching stations, counter tops, locker tops, ceilings, and artwork.
  • Clean door & window glass.
  • Lock all windows and doors, turn off lights in classrooms.
  • Disinfect & wipe desks and chair legs, seats and tops, all toilet fixtures and exposed piping, classroom baseboards, blackboards, door kick plates, clock faces; laboratory and teaching aids and equipment, and filing cabinets.
  • Wash waste receptacles, hallway doors, glass partitions, projected window sash elements, windows (interior) and partitions in toilets.
  • Brush-clean cabinet unit heater tops and louvers.
  • Report damaged equipment, furnishings, burned out bulbs, plumbing, etc., to the head custodian.
  • Keep storage rooms clean and efficiently organized.
  • Clean light fixture lenses and dust fluorescent tubes.
  • Clean walls, carpeting (spots), chair scuff marks, heel marks.
  • Perform minor maintenance duties assigned by work order from the head custodian or Building Facilities Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Facilities Manager.
