Job summary

Times Microwave Systems in Wallingford, CT is hiring for a wire and cable rewinding operator on the 3rd shift. You will wind from multiple reels to a single reel, inspect wires for finish and diameter variations, and report or repair faults as needed.

You will perform basic electrical tests for continuity and shorts, run spark tests, make minor repairs, and measure diameters with micrometers. The role requires being 18+ and offers equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older

Responsibilities

• Wind from multiple reels to a single reel as necessary for cabling or other operations
• Visually checks all wire and cable during rewinding operations to detect rough finish areas, obvious diameter variations and other disqualifying elements
• Take approved action to report, repair, remove faulty areas depending upon type and use requirements of wire or cable being rewound
• Performs simple electrical test functions to check cables and other items for continuity and "dead" shorts
• Run routine spark and similar tests following established practices and/or specific instructions
• Performs minor cable repairs, trim braid, repair jackets and perform other routine repair operations as necessary
• Check wall thickness, conductor and other diameters using micrometers and other measuring devices
• Coat wires and cable as directed
