Job summary

DIY Media Group Inc. is seeking a Book Binding Machine Operator for the BookBaby Print Shop in Pennsauken, NJ. The role starts in January 2027 and offers a 3rd shift schedule (Mon–Fri, 10:00 PM–6:00 AM) with potential overtime and a shift premium.

You will operate binding and finishing equipment, ensure quality, follow safety procedures, and contribute to Lean initiatives in a modern, climate-controlled facility with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of machine operation experience.
• Experience with book manufacturing equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures including lock-out/tag-out during cleaning or maintenance.
• Operate production equipment for printing, laminating, cutting, binding, and finishing.
• Load materials, prep jobs, and communicate changes or failures.
• Monitor product quality and report variations to the manager.
• Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Align work with DIY’s values.

DIY Media Group is hiring a Book Binding Machine Operator for the BookBaby Print Shop at our Pennsauken, NJ facility, starting in January 2027. Available Shift

• 3rd Shift, Monday through Friday, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM (training may be during first or third shift)
• This is a five-day, 40-hour workweek with occasional overtime as business needs require, plus a shift premium.
• This position is expected to begin in January 2027.

Responsibilities/Tasks

• Follow all safety procedures at all times, including lock-out/tag-out procedures, any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.
• Follow standard work; retrieve and load materials; and prep jobs for converting.
• Operate production equipment for one or more processes, including printing, laminating, cutting, end sheet fabrication, perfect binding, case making, casing binding, and associated support equipment.
• Communicate orally or in writing about process changes and equipment failures.
• Monitor the quality of the product and report all variations to the manager.
• Participate in Lean and Continuous improvement events and initiatives.
• Work in a manner that is in alignment with DIY’s values.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of machine operation experience.
• Prior experience with book manufacturing equipment, such as print binding or finishing, is preferred.

Special Skills Required

• Language – Must be able to take direction and communicate in Basic English as well as read and understand written documents.
• Math – Must be able to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of the Standard/Imperial measuring system is required, and knowledge of the metric system is a plus.
• Understanding and use of basic measuring instruments is required: micrometers, digital calipers, and tape measure is required.
• Have reasonable organizational skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to earn pallet jack certification with training provided by DIY.

Physical Demands

• This position requires standing/walking for the full 8+ hour shift.
• The work involves extended periods of repetitive motion.
• Walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
