Description

The 3rd Class Pick-Up Welder will support the construction of ships and other marine vessels. This role will contribute to the structural integrity and functionality of marine projects upon successful completion of training.

Full Time Position: Monday-Thursday 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM and Friday 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Successful candidates will pass a single Stick Welding Test in the 3g vertical/4g overhead position(s) with a single pass fillet weld, performed with a 7018 rod.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welding functions including Frame Tacking and Pick-up Welding, focusing on producing consistent, high-quality welds, and setting up and operating hand-held grinders.
  • Coordinate closely with other welders, pipe fitters, and supervisors to ensure timely and accurate project completion.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Must be able to pass and certify on 3g (vertical) and 4g (overhead) welding tests.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform various welding functions with precision.
  • Capable of handling a physical workload and working in various positions.
  • Ability to produce welds that meet quality and production standards consistently.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Additional technical training or certification in welding, fabrication, or shipbuilding is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces typical in shipbuilding environments.
  • Physical agility and dexterity for tasks like climbing, crouching, bending, stooping, reaching, and working at heights.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments, indoors and outdoors.
