Job summary

Helix Energy Solutions Group seeks a 3rd Assistant Engineer for a DP vessel operation. You will coordinate with the Chief Engineer and other engineers to maintain safe, efficient engine room operations, monitor machinery, and perform rounds with a focus on reliability and environmental compliance.

You will supervise engine room ratings, carry out maintenance, and participate in emergency duties in line with Muster List and Station Bill. Proficiency in English and computer literacy are required.

Qualifications

• Must meet STCW 95 Regulation III/1 as minimum qualification.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Engineer on a DP vessel or MODU preferred.
• Fluent in both verbal and written English; computer literacy required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Chief Engineer, 1st and 2nd Assistant Engineers, Watchkeeping Engineers, Electrician, Chief Officer for safe operation.
• Monitor machinery to minimize fuel and oil consumption and maximize availability.
• Perform rounds of machinery spaces during watch and document Engine Room Logs.
• Familiarize, supervise and direct engine room ratings; execute emergency duties per Muster List/Station Bill.
• Communicate engine room activities to other departments; inform if affecting operations.
• Ensure daily engine department activities are safe, healthy, and compliant with Environmental Policies.
