Job summary

Porter Logistics is seeking a senior leader to drive end-to-end warehouse operations on-site in Atlanta. You will lead a multi-functional team, own daily execution, and deliver financial performance with a strong emphasis on safety and client satisfaction.

The role focuses on operational excellence, people leadership, and cost control in a fast-paced 3PL setting. You will shape processes, align with customer requirements, and continuously improve throughput and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of warehouse operations leadership experience, preferably in a 3PL.
• Experience leading teams of 10+ in fast-paced environments.
• Strong knowledge of WMS, RF scanning, and inventory controls.
• Demonstrated ownership mindset with high accuracy standards.
• Experience with budgets or P&L performance and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily warehouse operations across receiving, put-away, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, and outbound shipments.
• Manage ambient and temperature-controlled areas with SOPs across environments.
• Maintain product integrity and proper handling, including temperature controls and safe forklift operation.
• Partner with maintenance to ensure equipment and freezer units operate reliably.
• Ensure 99%+ inventory accuracy through disciplined processes and cycle counts.
• Own slotting logic, replenishment, shrink reduction, and discrepancy resolution.
• Lead, coach, and develop warehouse staff; foster Porter values and accountability.
• Manage labor planning, productivity targets, hiring, training, and performance.
• Ensure OSHA compliance and safety audits; drive corrective actions.
• Serve as primary client operational contact; provide updates and insights.
• Coordinate logistics: carrier relations, inbound scheduling, dock flow, yard management, on-time performance.
• Own full P&L for the facility: labor, supplies, equipment, and utilities; optimize budgets.

This role is built for someone who wants to work, not manage from a distance. You'll spend 95% of your day on the floor, in the middle of the action, not behind a desk. This is a full-time, onsite role. You will be the senior leader in the building and will own both operational execution and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations Management

• Oversee daily operations across receiving, put-away, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, and outbound shipments.
• Manage both ambient and temperature-controlled areas (including frozen sections), ensuring SOPs are followed consistently across environments.
• Maintain product integrity and proper handling of all products in the warehouse (temperature checks, seal controls, safe forklift operation in low-visibility conditions).
• Partner with maintenance/facilities to ensure equipment, racking, and freezer units operate reliably.

Inventory Accuracy & Quality Control

• Ensure 99%+ inventory accuracy through disciplined processes, cycle counts, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Own slotting logic, replenishment practices, shrink reduction, and discrepancy resolution.
• Maintain compliance with customer requirements and general warehouse best practices.

Team Leadership & Labor Management

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of warehouse associates, leads, and forklift operators.
• Foster a culture aligned with Porter’s values: team player, thoroughness, integrity, ownership, consistency, and positivity.
• Manage labor planning, productivity expectations, hiring, training, and performance accountability.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with OSHA standards and internal safety protocols.
• Maintain safety procedures for both ambient and cold environments, including proper PPE, safe equipment use, and hazard awareness.
• Conduct regular safety audits and lead incident investigations with corrective action plans.

Client Service & Communication

• Serve as primary operational contact for clients supported by this facility.
• Provide updates, resolve issues rapidly, and deliver operational insights and performance reports.
• Maintain a client-obsessed focus - accuracy, timeliness, and proactive communication.
• Logistics & Transportation Coordination
• Manage carrier relationships, inbound scheduling, dock flow, yard management, and on-time performance.
• Ensure efficient loading/unloading processes, minimizing detention and delays.

P&L Ownership & Financial Management

• Own the full P&L for the facility: labor costs, supplies, equipment, utilities, and productivity KPIs.
• Plan and manage budgets, optimize resource allocation, and identify margin improvement opportunities.
• Track daily/weekly facility performance and make data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of warehouse operations leadership experience (3PL strongly preferred).
• Experience overseeing teams of 10+ in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong knowledge of WMS platforms, RF scanning, and inventory control processes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead with ownership, solve problems, and maintain exceptionally high accuracy standards.
• Experience managing budgets or P&L performance.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain high accountability across teams.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and general warehouse safety best practices.
• Preferred
• Experience in facilities with both ambient and temperature-controlled areas.
• Background in food, retail, cold-chain, or high-SKU environments.
• HACCP, forklift certification, or similar credentials.
