Job summary

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to lead studies on how spatial and multicellular context shapes cell death pathways and virus replication in 3D organoid systems. You will work with hiPSC-derived and primary cells, develop co-culture models, and apply imaging and molecular methods to study alphaviruses and Zika virus.

The role requires experience in multicellular 3D models, flow cytometry, qPCR, and confocal imaging, with opportunities to collaborate

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology, Virology, Pathology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience establishing, maintaining, and characterizing multicellular 3D tissue models (organoids, spheroids, or co-cultures) derived from primary and/or hiPSC-derived cells.
• Experience with hiPSC culture, maintenance, and directed differentiation protocols.
• Humility: desire to learn and take feedback.
• Leadership: ability to lead and own projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform in‑vitro procedures and training in BSL2 and BSL3 labs.
• Analyze data, prepare reports and manuscripts, and ensure safety compliance.
• Train and assist graduate and undergraduate students in collaborative projects.
