Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a skilled 3D Imaging Technologist with CT and/or MRI expertise to process and generate multi-planar reformatted and three-dimensional images from patient scans. The role involves independent work on imaging workstations, post-processing software and collaboration with radiology leadership to develop protocols.

Candidates should have ARRT/NMTCB certifications and a minimum of 2 years related experience.

Qualifications

  • ARRT-CT or ARRT-MR or ARRT-VI or ARMRIT certifications required after hire.
  • ARRT or NMTCB certifications per specialty are required.
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program - Radiologic Technology (Required).
  • Bachelor's Degree - Related Field (Preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience (Required).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures proper patient identification and exam prep while documenting clinical history and confidentiality.
  • Optimizes imaging protocols and technical factors with emphasis on ALARA and patient safety.
  • Assists with administration of medications via vascular access per provider orders when applicable.
  • Evaluates image quality and coordinates data transfer and archival storage as needed.
  • Educates and mentors students and other health care providers.
  • Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
  • Performs routine and complex post-processing tasks independently.
  • Participates in modality quality and process improvement activities.

Job Summary

The 3D Imaging Technologist utilizes knowledge and experience gained from clinical experience in CT and/or MRI to process and produce multi-planar reformatted and three-dimensional images from volumetric scans of patients. The 3D Imaging Technologist works independently using various imaging computer workstations and multiple post processing software and hardware solutions. The 3D Imaging Technologist also works closely with radiology section chiefs to develop post-processing protocols. The 3D Imaging Technologist creates standard protocol views for a wide range of clinical anatomy and pathology. A 3D Imaging Technologist must be experienced in cross-sectional computed tomography (CT) and/or (MR) and must understand cross-sectional anatomy to be able to recognize scan artifacts and abnormal anatomy/pathology in 3D images. Excellent interpersonal interaction and communication (oral, written, presentation) skills. Ability to perform tasks accurately with attention to detail, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function independently and competently in stressful situations.

Job Duties
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
  • Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties.
  • Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.

  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Certification Board (NMTCB) and
  • ARRT-CT or ARRT-MR or ARRT-VI or ARMRIT
Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)

Experience

Minimum of 2 years-Related work experience (Required)
