Job summary

Markent Personnel, Inc. in New York, NY is seeking a 3D Technical Designer for children’s apparel to partner with Design and Production to ensure fit, construction, and brand consistency.

You will develop and maintain spec packages to support styling across styles and sizes. The role requires at least 2 years in children’s wear, familiarity with Browzwear (or similar 3D software), knowledge of knit and woven construction, patternmaking, and strong Excel/MS Word skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years relevant experience, children swear experience
• Experience with Browzwear 3D software or similar software.
• Familiar with measuring sample points of measurement to ensure submitted samples are within tolerance of required specifications
• Strong knowledge of knit and woven garment construction
• Knowledge of patternmaking, sewing terminology and garment construction
• Have understanding of garment manufacturing and product development process
• Proficient in the use of Excel and MS Word; knowledge of Illustrator a plus
• Must be willing to work in the office 5 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Design and Production to set and maintain fit and construction standards for brand quality.
• Create spec packages for every style, including grade rules and non-standard construction details.
• Accurate measurement and evaluation of developments and proto samples for specs, quality and workmanship.
• Prepare and lead fit sessions with Design and Production departments.
• Communicate measurement, construction and workmanship notes to vendors with explanations, diagrams, or patterns.
• Collaborate with Production and Compliance to ensure products meet children's safety requirements.
• Respond to emails regarding fit, specs, pattern and construction as needed.
