Job description

3D Rigger / Animator for Short Self-Funded Game Demo

Here's a little whitebox vibe video to give you an idea:
https://bsky.app/profile/gramofcode.bsky.social/post/3lp5tfcf6ec2r

I need a rigger / animator to help with about 5 or 6 separate characters for a total of roughly 52 rough animations.

I say rough because this is a demo and it doesn't need to be perfect. It needs to be good enough to make a special someone go "woah haha that's fun! And, you know what - I DOwant to pay you to build out a team and make this thing! And you better hire that animator person because holy hell, did I love those animations! In fact, I can't imagine this game without them."

Are you that animator?

I don't know, show me stuff!

What I am doing:
I am working with a small team to create a short game demo to pitch to publishers by the end of the year. I am aiming to have it completed by October 2025. This could turn into a full production if it gets picked up by a publisher to fund the work.

Expectations:
- You can rig and animate stuff
- You have an easily accessible portfolio of work showing that you can rig and animate stuff
- You are aware this is a self funded demo and not a AAA game
- You are open to using / sourcing pre-made animations and if not, you can explain why not
- You are open to using auto rigs or other time saving plugins and if not, you can explain why not
- You communicate well
- You don't take feedback / direction personally
- You can get paid via PayPal or Wise or Zelle
- You can ballpark time / costs to do a set number of animations / rigs
- You are available for more full-time work in the event the game demo is picked up by a publisher for a full production

Skills & Requirements

- Rigging
- 3D animation
- Responsiveness
- Milanote / Discord
- Being a cool person that works well with others

How to Apply

- Please message me on Artstation one timewith your portfolio of work.
- Put that portfolio link right at the top.
- Include answers to these questions: if we have 5 (humanoid) character models, and 52 total in-game action animations (idle, walk, jump, etc) ... how would you go about handling this work in a cost / time effective way for a demo? And what is a rough ballpark range of cost / time to do this work?
- Something in writing showing you're a genuine person is great.I do not care about resumes or formal cover letters.
- Please do not blow up my email / social / Artstation.
- If I think this could be a good fit I'll reach out to discuss financial stuff, time frames, etc.

I will review your message but I will not respond unless I feel like we could work together on this. That will come down to a pure gut reaction to your portfolio. Nothing personal. It may take me two weeks to review depending on how many responses I get, but I will review every portfolio and make that decision.
