About this opportunity This role will require the employee to live in El Paso, TX and commute to our Juarez, Mexico location 5 days a week. The 3D Printing Application Engineer will be an integral part in driving the success of Align’s world-leading Invisalign mass customization operation. They will be responsible for leading investigative work into manufacturing challenges. They will assist in delivering step-change manufacturing improvements involving new technologies, materials, hardware and software. They will define and optimize new 3D printing processes to enhance efficiency and quality of products in the world’s largest 3D printing environment. The 3D Printing Application Engineer must be a leader, strategic thinker and problem solver. They must be organized, disciplined, and self-motivated, with the ability to balance multiple priorities related to operations and organization. In this role, you will… Lead development, optimization, installation, and testing of new manufacturing technology and subsystems, with an emphasis on 3D printing. Lead efforts to diagnose manufacturing challenges and implement solutions develop and optimize manufacturing processes with variable parameters using statistical methods and design of experiments analyze and improve processes for existing and new production methods involving new materials, new 3D printing technology, and new post-processing techniques. lead, interact, and collaborate with other engineers including materials, software, mechanical, and electrical engineers. work in a hands-on manner to quickly design and execute tests for assessing feasibility of new concepts and ideas. work with 3D modeling and print preparation software to design 3D printing experiments and validations. lead efforts with a production team to monitor unit operations, correct problems and assist in improvements to newly-developed technologies. participate in the development, processing and testing of engineering materials to create products. be accountable for the delivery of process engineering deliverables and services on time, meeting quality expectations, and in coordination with project plans develop new prototype systems, processes, and test methods to enable new technology development In this role, you’ll need … MS or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. mechanical, industrial, electrical, chemical) or related field 5-8 years of experience in additive manufacturing (in academic and/or industrial environment) Experience in 3D printing technology and process development, preferably with liquid photopolymers experience with design of experiments, statistical analysis strong communication and interpersonal skills strong analytical and problem-solving skills experience with 3D modeling and CAD an ability to speak fluently on technical topics in both English and Spanish Sound like a good fit?
