Job summary

Answers in Genesis Group is seeking a 3D Printer Technician to operate and maintain a large print farm consisting of FDM and resin printers. The role requires handling tasks independently in a fast-paced environment while upholding the organization's values.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain over 140 3D printers, including setup, loading materials and routine maintenance.
• Perform regular quality checks on printed parts and troubleshoot print quality or machine issues.
• Maintain logs of printer issues and repairs, organize produced parts and keep the workspace clean.

The 3D Printer Technician (PT) will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of large production print farms consisting of FDM and resin printers, ensuring the quality and efficiency of the printing process.

They must possess the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining pleasant, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important, and they must work independently with little or no supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain 3D printers to ensure smooth and efficient operation. This includes setting up print jobs, loading materials, and performing routine maintenance on over 140 3D printers.
• Conduct regular quality checks on printed parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to print quality or machine performance. Maintain accurate logs on printer issues and repairs.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on 3D printers, such as cleaning, lubricating and calibrating equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical or technical issues and coordinate repairs when necessary.
• Organize and catalogue produced parts.
• Keep workspace clean and organized.
• Work in a safety focused manner following OSHA guidelines and use of proper PPE.
• And all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

QualificationsRequirements

• Manage the operation of a variety of machines which execute project needs based on digital files.
• Have expertise with SLA/FDM printers.
• Oversee the logistics of machine operations to ensure project needs are completed on schedule and under budget.
• Ensure routine machinery maintenance is performed, and the work area is kept clean and organized.
• Able to work swing or second shift hours when needed.
• Teachable and able to give and take from others’ experience.
• Able to multitask.
• Have a strong desire with personal commitment to grow the outreach of Answers in Genesis.
• Work as a team member with the ministry’s objective.
• Able to handle and manipulate small 3D parts and objects.
• Able to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable with working around photopolymer resin, isopropyl alcohol, and PLA filament.
• Able-bodied to wear all PPE such as reusable respirator, nitrile gloves, and safety glasses.
• Willingness to have a clean-shaven face for proper fit of PPE.

Education & Experience

• Minimum 3-year experience with SLA/FDM or resin printers.
• Experience with Siocast injection molding and laser cutters is a plus.
• NC coding experience is a plus.
• OSHA safety training a plus.
