Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience as a Digital Sculptor working on toys.
  • Portfolio submission is required; applicants without a portfolio will not be considered.
  • Proficiency in ZBrush and hard-surface sculpting using ZModeler.

Vinyl is the number one stylized vinyl collectible on the market, selling millions of figures to fans around the world.

The Sculptor takes initiative to hone their understanding of the Funko brand aesthetic as they work on various product lines. This role generates 3D assets for a variety of product lines exclusively in ZBrush. This job requires daily interaction with other Designers, Sculptors, Packaging Artists and Project Managers to ensure the smooth and efficient production of all Funko toys and collectibles. They need to possess a solid understanding of the Funko rules and stylization when creating their products and will require minimal art direction when doing so. The Sculptor possesses basic understanding of factory limitations and the molding process in toy collectible creation. The Sculptor will report to the Art Director to achieve creative and artistic goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Create 3D assets for multiple lines in different styles and rulesets.
  • Create turn sheets and pad print art vectors if needed.
  • Support quality control throughout production to ensure an accurate, consistent, and high-quality final product.
  • Assist in new development asks.
  • A passionate self-driven sculptor with a strong focus for taking ownership of work assigned; delivering sculpts where everything was considered and triple checked without being prompted.
  • Someone who has a solid understanding how to sculpt for toys.
  • Work independently with minimal oversight from Art Directors and Leads.
  • Advanced artistic and technical proficiency in ZBrush, with the ability to create high-quality 3D product assets within rapid timelines.
  • Ability to work “straight to sculpt” when concept art is not available, relying on research and product knowledge.
  • Strong planning and research skills, with the ability to apply them effectively to ongoing Funko projects.
  • A solid understanding of Funko brands, product lines, and form factors.
  • Ability to carry a product through the full production process for toys and collectibles across Funko lines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams and locations, including Designers and Production Managers, to help ensure product quality.
  • A strong interest in and knowledge of pop culture and entertainment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work efficiently and communicate openly to ensure seamless handoffs between pre- and post-production Artists and other departments.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2+ years of related experience as a Digital Sculptor working on toys.
  • A genuine interest in developing and growing within a toys and collectibles team.
  • Advanced sculpting proficiency in ZBrush.
  • Proficiency in hard surface sculpting using ZModeler inside Zbrush.
  • A thorough understanding of working with real-world measurements in ZBrush and how they translate to a physical product.
  • 3D printing experience is a plus.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a large and diverse workload across multiple ongoing projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Creative vision and strategic thinking with the ability to apply both to your work.
  • Digital Art education or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A positive, collaborative attitude with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment.
  • Submission of a portfolio demonstrating applicable skills is required. Applicants who do not submit a portfolio will not be considered for this position.

Salary Information

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $31.54 – $39.42 hourly. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
