An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Day Shift Capping Operator Mechanic to join their production team. This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining essential equipment in the Capping and Pasteurizing Department. We have an opening for a Day Shift Capping Operator Mechanic at the DC Production Location.
Summary
Qualified through certified training modules and methods to set up, operate, and maintain two qualified pieces of equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Sets up, troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and operates equipment in the Capping and Pasteurizing Department, focusing on safety, production, quality, housekeeping, 5S, training, and teamwork.
Assists in setting up, adjusting, and repairing equipment such as conveyors, tilt briners, cappers, and dud detection systems. Rebuilds parts including capper tracks, roller brackets, pulleys, and sealing shoes.
Manually handles caps, ensuring continuous hopper supply without overfilling. Flattens cap boxes for disposal.
Monitors capping quality visually and physically, and prepares lines for startup by placing catwalks and trash receptacles.
Adjusts brine flow and line speed as needed, and monitors dud detectors, reworking ejected jars.
Ensures product safety and quality compliance, with trained backup coverage for food safety monitoring.
Performs daily and weekly operational checks, records downtime and product checks, and maintains work area including cleaning and equipment maintenance.
Follows safety protocols and company policies.
Other duties
Assists in training seasonal laborers, supports DIN personnel, may operate a forklift, and works on other lines as needed. Participates in meetings, training, and projects as directed.
Receives instructions from supervisors and performs additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; additional trades training is a plus. Must complete company training for two qualified equipment pieces. English proficiency required. Math skills include basic operations. Intermediate computer skills necessary. CRC certification (Bronze level or higher) is advantageous.

Physical Demands
Includes bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and working with up to medium force exertion. Visual acuity required for machine operation and mechanical tasks.
Work Environment
Indoor work with seasonal temperature variations, exposure to grease, food coloring, fumes, and noise. Personal protective equipment such as ear plugs, head covers, beard covers, and safety glasses required.
