Job summary

The Arc of Somerset County in New Jersey seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for a 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. shift to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group homes and community settings across Somerset County.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living, nutrition, ISP participation, medication support, and community activities. A HS diploma or GED is required; a valid driver's license and at least one year of I/DD experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s license
• One year’s experience I/DD (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Assist consumers, as needed, in skill development, activities of daily living, personal care, domestic living, recreation and socialization
• Ensure assigned clients’ nutritional needs; assisting with feeding as necessary
• Assist consumers in nutritional planning, grocery shopping and preparation of all meals.
• Collaborate on the development/implementation of consumers’ Individual Service plans (ISP).
• Train and support consumers in all areas of their ISP.
• Assist with medication administration.
• Train and support consumers in the community including: social, recreational, cultural, religion and education networks.
