  • Dexterity and coordination; ability to climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Team oriented, safety-minded, and able to work in a 12-hour rotating shift.
  • Adherence to GMP, OSHA and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety guidelines, wear PPE and meet OSHA requirements.
  • Set up machine to specifications and standard setup time.
  • Operate and maintain line to meet production targets and waste targets.
  • Troubleshoot machine and assist maintenance as needed.
  • Ensure clean work area and comply with GMPs and quality requirements.
  • Complete required forms and shift reports; participate in process improvements.
  • Work in a 24/7 facility on 12-hour rotating shifts.

Job description

The Converting Operator position is needed at Hood Packaging Corporation's Thomasville, NC location. This position will assist in ensuring HACCP, GMP'S, work instructions, and SQF requirements are in compliance.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Must follow safety guidelines, wear designated personal protective equipment and meet OSHA safety requirements.
  • Supports and adheres to all Hood’s procedures and protocols
  • Continuously improve the process as an individual and as a team member.
  • Provides feedback to the shift lead and supervisor on equipment or production issues.
  • Ensures all environmental standards and requirements are met
  • Sets-up machine to specifications outlined on the order
  • Sets-up machine to standard set-up time & procedure
  • Operates machine to standard production target and waste target
  • Trouble shoots machine when it is down or not performing to standard
  • Assists maintenance with machine repairs and preventive maintenance
  • Responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operation of the machine is consistent with the policies and procedures
  • Continuously improve the process as an individual and as a team member
  • Ensures work area is kept clean according to facility/corporate standards
  • Adhere to all GMPs, compliance/regulatory mandates and quality requirements.
  • Cleans machine and area according to schedule
  • Performs inspections per Quality Procedure
  • Completes all required tracking forms (Job Plan, Shift Run Report, Quality Sheet, and checklists)
  • Ensures pre-setup tasks are completed for each order.
  • Initiates and supports improvement initiatives
  • Operate and maintain assigned line to maintain safety, quality and productivity in a 24/7 facility working 12 hour rotating shifts
  • Other duties as instructed by Supervisor or Lead
Qualifications

  • Previous Operator experience preferred as well as minor mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  • Average dexterity and coordination. Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Frequent mental/visual attention to monitor extruder operation.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must adhere to plant safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to quickly assimilate new procedures and industry advances.
