Job summary

Phoenix Tailings is seeking a Chemical Process Technician to join the Separations Team in Burlington, MA. In this hands-on role, you’ll operate chemical separation processes and handle strong acids and bases safely, supporting scalable production of critical materials.

You will follow SOPs, monitor process conditions, collect data, perform in-process sampling, and assist with troubleshooting and maintenance to improve separation performance while upholding EHS standards.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in chemical processing, laboratory work, or industrial operations.
  • Strong experience with wet chemistry, including handling of strong acids and bases.
  • Familiarity with basic lab instrumentation, data collection, and documentation practices.
  • Must be self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or vocational training in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate chemical separation processes ensuring accuracy and safety in all activities.
  • Safely handle strong acids, bases, and other hazardous materials using appropriate PPE and safety protocols.
  • Execute wet chemistry procedures and follow SOPs precisely to support critical metals separation.
  • Monitor and adjust process conditions based on lab results and performance data.
  • Conduct in-process sampling and testing to ensure process targets are met.
  • Document experimental data, deviations, and observations with high attention to detail.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts and recommend improvements to optimize separation performance.
  • Perform routine cleaning, inspections, and maintenance of process and lab equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment aligned with EHS standards.

Who We Are Looking For

Phoenix Tailings is looking for a Chemical Process Technician to join our Separations Team in Burlington, MA. In this hands‑on role, you’ll play a vital part in operating and improving our rare earth metals separation processes by working with strong acids, bases, and wet chemistry systems. Your work will directly enable the clean, scalable production of the critical materials powering the technologies of tomorrow.

This pay range reflects best estimate for the total cash compensation which includes salary + discretionary bonus for this role. Total package may vary based on experience and qualifications.

Pay Range: $60,000- $85,000 total cash compensation plus equity
