Job summary

Blackrock Logistics is seeking a Yard Hostler on the 2nd shift (5:00 PM–5:00 AM, Sun–Tue and every other Wed). You will move trailers and containers in the yard and at loading docks, supporting timely loading and unloading while maintaining safety.

Responsibilities include connecting trailers, conducting basic inspections, recording movements, and coordinating with dock staff. Requires a HS diploma or GED, CA driver’s license, 1 year yard hostler experience, ability to lift 50 lbs, and outdoor

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid California driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Minimum 1 year experience operating a yard hostler/spotter or similar equipment.
• Ability to connect/disconnect trailers and operate yard equipment.
• Basic proficiency with handheld scanners and yard management software.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and flexible schedules.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with Cal/OSHA and DOT standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a yard hostler/spotter to move trailers and containers between docks, staging areas, and yard spaces.
• Connect and disconnect trailers, including air lines, electrical lines, and landing gear.
• Spot trailers at dock doors to support loading/unloading schedules.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the yard truck and report issues.
• Inspect trailers and document seal numbers, damage, and overall condition.
• Record trailer movements using yard management systems or handheld devices.
• Coordinate with dock supervisors, warehouse staff, and dispatch for prioritizing moves.
• Follow safety protocols and company policies; maintain an orderly yard.
• Perform additional yard and warehouse duties as assigned.
