Job summary

Mazak Corporation is seeking an experienced welder to read blueprints, select parts, and weld and assemble sheet metal to engineering specifications. The role includes setting up MIG welding machines, operating overhead cranes, and finishing parts to drawing tolerances with attention to cleanliness and safety.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED (vocational training preferred) and demonstrated MIG welding experience.

Qualifications

• MIG welding experience and ability to read blueprints.
• Knowledge of weld shrinkage factors and various welding techniques.
• Familiar with the metric system; capable of setting up welding operations.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and welding prints to specifications.
• Weld parts to tolerances and assemble per drawings.
• Set up MIG welding machines and operate overhead crane and hand tools.
• Prepare parts for painting and inspect visually before finishing.

Job description

Welders weld and sand sheet metal parts to engineering specifications as shown on the blueprints.

Scope and Responsibilities

• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding prints and other drawings.
• Select parts from laser cutting/press brake operation to weld and align parts according to specifications.
• Weld parts to specific tolerances.
• Modify or redesign existing parts if necessary.
• Sand, grind, buff, taper and or tap fabricated parts to drawing specifications.
• Design and build fixtures jigs to use in welding and assembly operations.
• Must be able to set up and run MIG welding machines.
• Operate overhead crane and use various hand tools including saws, shears, drills and grinders.
• Prepare fabricated parts for painting
• Visually inspect each part that is ready for paint.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Education/Certification

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Vocational school is preferred

Skills

• MIG welding experience
• Familiar with metric system
• Blueprint reading experience
• Autobody sanding experience is a plus
• Must be knowledgeable of weld shrinkage factors and various welding techniques.
• Must successfully pass entry-level test administered by Mazak.
