Job summary

Phoenix Metals Company in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Warehouse Associate to support metals processing and distribution tasks, including inventory handling, order fulfillment, and loading/unloading material using forklift or crane. You will maintain a clean, safe work area, follow safety and quality standards, and complete documentation.

The role requires basic math, reading instructions, and the ability to multi-task.

Qualifications

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Able to meet current MVR quality criteria as defined by regulations and/or company policy.
  • Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
  • Clear oral and written communication skills, legible handwriting required.
  • Adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations.
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Move inventory or equipment as directed, filling customer orders.
  • Pull material from racks and unload incoming material.
  • Load trucks and/or customer vehicles; assist with upkeep of warehouse.
  • Receive and place/return items into stock inventory locations.
  • Tag material for proper identification and complete documentation.
  • Move material using forklift, side loader, or crane.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work area and follow safety standards.
  • Restock material and report irregularities to supervisor for direction.

Job Summary

This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing metals processing and distribution work. Work includes specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Phoenix Metals in metals processing and distribution.

Job Function

Generally responsible for completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions. Responsible for moving inventory or equipment, filling customer orders, pulling material from racks, unloading incoming material, loading trucks and/or customer vehicles, & helping maintain the upkeep of the warehouse. Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations. Pulls and assembles orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation. Tags material for proper identification and completes all required documentation. Moves material from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas using forklift, side loader, or crane. Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Sorts and places material on rack, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code. Spot checks on inventory, completes daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed. Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction. Restocks material. Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.

Required Skills

0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required. High School diploma/GED preferred. Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required. Warehousing and material handling experience preferred. Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
