Job summary

Jones Dairy Farm in Fort Atkinson, WI is seeking a 2nd shift Utilities Technician to maintain steam, refrigeration, water and HVAC systems in a fast-paced food processing environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring and servicing ammonia refrigeration equipment, boilers, wastewater and air systems, performing rounds, and logging activities. You will support the PSM program, ensure safety, and coordinate with supervisors and contractors as needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates mechanical abilities and general knowledge of refrigeration, boiler systems, and wastewater systems.
• Minimum 1 to 3 years’ experience in Ammonia Refrigeration.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals and P&ID’s.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers at all levels.
• Experience working with vendors and contractors.
• RETA certification preferred — if not certified, it will be required that RETA certification CARO (Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator) is completed within 3 years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, service and repair equipment for steam, refrigeration, water, compressed air and HVAC systems.
• Make rounds and keep logs of daily operations and events for multiple engine rooms and refrigeration equipment.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of ammonia refrigeration compressors, condensers, pumps, vessels / recirculatory, purges, evaporators / MAU’s, heat exchangers, and control valves / isolation valves while using OEM guidelines.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of steam boilers, wastewater treatment facility, hot water heaters, HVAC systems and air compressors.
• Participates in the PSM Program.
• Promotes safe working habits.
• Log time and material usage into CMMS for PMs and corrective maintenance.
• Responsible for housekeeping of engine rooms, vessel areas, shops, and all other work areas.
• All other duties as assigned.
